Salcrozine 500mg 100 Tab

- A medication used to treat inflammatory bowel conditions by locally inhibiting the production of inflammatory mediators in the intestinal mucosa, including prostaglandins and leukotrienes.

Indications:
- Treatment of ulcerative colitis.
- Maintenance of remission in ulcerative colitis patients.

Main Active Ingredient:
- Mesalazine 500 mg.

Precautions:
- Contraindicated in patients allergic to mesalazine, salicylates, or any other component of the formulation.
- Avoid use in patients with severe kidney or liver impairment.
- Use with caution in patients with bleeding disorders, pre-existing lung disease, or a history of heart inflammation.
- Not recommended for children under 5 years.
- Use during pregnancy or breastfeeding only if clearly necessary and prescribed by a physician.
- Regular monitoring of liver, kidney, blood, and lung function may be required.
- Drink sufficient fluids during treatment to prevent kidney stones.
- Stop treatment immediately if severe skin reactions occur.
- Store below 25°C, away from moisture and heat.
- Keep out of reach of children.

Side Effects:
- Common side effects may include abdominal pain, diarrhea, flatulence, nausea, vomiting, headache, dizziness, and mild skin reactions.
- Rare side effects may include chest pain, shortness of breath, photosensitivity, kidney function impairment, severe abdominal pain, liver disorders, muscle or joint pain, hair loss, and blood count disorders.
- Very rare side effects include severe cutaneous adverse reactions such as DRESS, Stevens-Johnson syndrome (SJS), and toxic epidermal necrolysis (TEN).

Drug–Drug Interactions:
- Antidiabetic medications: May interact with drugs like metformin, glibenclamide, gliclazide, or insulin, potentially affecting blood sugar control.
- Antihypertensives and diuretics: May interact with ACE inhibitors (e.g., enalapril, lisinopril), angiotensin receptor blockers (e.g., losartan), thiazide diuretics (e.g., hydrochlorothiazide), or loop diuretics (e.g., furosemide), potentially increasing the risk of kidney issues.
- Gout medications: Drugs like allopurinol or colchicine may interact.
- Laxatives containing lactulose: Can alter absorption.
- Anticoagulants: Such as warfarin or heparin, may increase bleeding risk.
- Immunosuppressants: Examples include azathioprine, 6-mercaptopurine, or thioguanine, potentially increasing toxicity.
- Anti-inflammatories: Such as ibuprofen, naproxen, or diclofenac, may increase gastrointestinal risks. - Take exactly as prescribed by a healthcare professional.
- Gastro-resistant tablets should be swallowed whole with liquid before meals. Do not divide, chew, or crush.
- Adult acute colitis dose: 1.5–4 g/day (3–8 tablets), once daily or divided doses.
- Adult maintenance dose: 1.5–3 g/day (3–6 tablets), once daily or divided doses."
